Trent Reznor has revealed that the band have been secretly recording their first music together since ‘The Slip’ was released in 2008.  “I've been less than honest about what I've really been up to lately,” he said in a statement to the press. "For the last year I've been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly f**king great."

During the band’s hiatus Trent has been involved in various pursuits, including collaborating with Hollywood director David Fincher to produce the scores for hit films The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.  This has proved the inspiration for him to get the band back on the road.  “This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!' he proclaimed.

The new LP will be Nine Inch Nails’ ninth studio album.

According to Muselive.com, Muse are set to debut  'Survival', their brand new single for the London 2012 Olympics, tonight (27th June 2012) on BBC Radio 1.

The station will premiere the track at 7.30pm (BST) on Zane Lowe's show and will be the band’s first new track since they released their last album back in 2009.

The band released a statement on their website announcing that the band’s new track had been selected by LOCOG as London 2012's official song.

“We are very excited to announce that a Muse song, Survival, has been selected by the London Olympic committee to be the main official song for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Matt wrote the song with the Olympics in mind. It's about total conviction and pure determination to win.”

The statement from the band also added “We are honoured that the Olympics have chosen our song to officially represent the London 2012 Olympic Games across the globe.”

The band's new album is the follow-up to 2009's 'The Resistance' and has been recorded in London. Little has been revealed about the album so far, though there are rumors that this album will have much more “electronic” sound. Bassist Chris Wolstenholme has said that the band wanted to do "something radically different" on their new LP.

Muse have also unveiled a video for their upcoming studio album recently which can be seen below. The video ends with the words 'The 2nd Law' and 'September 2012', which is possibly a hint towards the official release date.

The band is also set to play five shows across the UK in October at venues including Manchester Arena and London's O2 Arena. The gigs are set to be a hit with 3 dates sold out already and the remaining nights have only limited tickets available.

It’s been over a year since Soundgarden announced that they were back together and recording a new album, their first studio album since 1996's Down On The Upside, and months since we revealed that the band were set to appear at this year’s Download Festival. But the day has come and gone as the band played to a packed Donington Park as the festival began to wind down it's tenth anniversary.

The band opened with 'Spoonman', playing in front of a huge banner bearing a black triangle surrounded by numerous black swirls. They continued with 'Let Me Drown' and 'Gun' as the sun broke through the clouds. The band played a range of tracks from across their career, with 'Fell On Black Days' and 'Black Hole Sun' proving particular hits.

"Thanks for having us Download," Chris Cornell declared, "it's our first show in the UK for 15 years."

He also told of his joy at playing at the famous Donington Park, adding: "If you're in a rock band or you're a fan, it's pretty well documented as being the big hard rock festival worldwide. It's the one."

Cornell also spoke of how he was very excited to see a re-formed Black Sabbath bring this year's Download rock festival, which more than 100,000 people attended, to a close.

Singer Ozzy Osbourne, bassist Geezer Butler, guitarist Tony Iommi and Tommy Clufetos played a set packed with Black Sabbath tracks including War Pigs, Sweet Leaf and Paranoid.

Other acts who appeared on Sunday (10 June) included Rise Against, Megadeth, Anthrax, Ugly Kid Joe, Lamb of God and Black Label Society.

The festival was classed by many as the biggest and the best yet, with Download organiser Andy Copping revealing that it's success had already signed up one of next year's headliners with the second due to be finalised in the next few weeks.
